Golfers' Paradise!!

Manitoba golfing at its best! Golf at one of three golf courses within 5 minutes of Bear Country Cottages.

Fishing Enthusiasts!!

Fishing the Winnipeg River in Pine Falls is sure to please the heartiest enthusiast. This area is famous for its trophy pickerel (walleye) catches.

A short drive south will also take you to the "Catfish Capital" of Canada, Selkirk, Manitoba! The Red River offers serious fishing for "Master Angler" catfish!

Fish off the shore in Grand Beach or just 2 minutes away at the Yellowbrick Road boat launch.



ATV / Dirt Bikers Rejoice

The local ATV trail system runs right next to Bear Country Cottage Resort. Ride some of Manitoba's best ATV and Snowmobile trails right from your doorstep that go for hundreds of miles!

The East Beaches Region of Lake Winnipeg is truly an ATV rider's dream. With hundreds of miles of trails, sand pits and rugged terrain, it offers a challenge to the most seasoned rider!

We are a "recreational vehicle friendly" resort, however, we insist that all dirt bikes and ATV's are driven slowly and quietly off the property in consideration of other guests.



Spectacular & Scenic Snowmobiling!

The extensive snowmobile trial system runs right next to Bear Country Cottages.

The groomed trail system allows easy access to Gimli, Grand Beach, Lac Du Bonnet and the Whiteshell and Northstar Trail systems.

Cross Country Skiing/Snowshoeing!

Grand Beach Provincial Park offers some of southern Manitoba's finest groomed cross-country ski trails. Five designated routes begin and end at the same staging area, only minutes from Bear Country Cottages.

Each trail is rated for different skill levels: the Jack Pine (2.6 km); and Blueberry trails (3.2 km) trails are recommended for novices; intermediate skiers will enjoy the Boulder Hill (6.1 km) and Beaver Pond (13.3 km) trails; and expert skiers will find the Squirrel Run (2.6 km) challenging.

If none of the above is your thing, you can go to the Victoria Beach outdoor skating rink and tobogganing hill for an afternoon of winter fun. Don't forget your thermos for hot chocolate!



Hikers Haven

The East Beaches Region and Grand Beach Provincial Park offers a wide variety of walking/hiking opportunities.

In Grand Beach Provincial Park you'll find the following trails and more:

From the informal trails such as the historic walk along the boardwalk at Grand Beach, to the 30 km's of back country trail networks that let you stroll connecting routes to your heart's content, there is no limit to how far you can go.

Water Sports & Boating!

We are just minutes away from 5! white sandy beaches. You just need to choose which one to visit for a day of fun in the sun.

The lagoon in Grand Beach Provincial Park is a sheltered area for boating, water skiing, board sailing, canoeing and other calm water oriented sports.

For safety, part of the lagoon has been designated for non-motorized water sports.

Berry Picking Central!

The mixed forest on the Bear Country Cottages property offers a variety of berry producing plants and shrubs.

Saskatoon berries are available towards the end of June or early July.

Chokecherries, blueberries and wild raspberries are ready for picking mid-July to August.

For those experienced in mushroom gathering, the season begins in spring with the Morel and continues into the summer and fall with Chanterelles, Honey and edible Boletus.



Or just lounge, relax and recharge in your lovely, fully appointed cottage and let the world revolve around you!

There is a full playground at Bear Country with slides, swings, a badminton net and a toy box full of balls, racquets etc for the kids or the kid in you.

We also provide bicycles for your use and enjoyment for exploring the East Beaches Region.
